Install SilverCreek for Linux (Workgroup-floating license)

SegueSoft Inc. (SSI) has acquired all rights to SilverCreek, Maxwell Pro TCP/IP Tests, and the IWL MQTT Tests from InterWorking Labs, Inc. (IWL).
This document references content originally developed by IWL, now authorized for SSI’s use under the acquisition agreement.

SilverCreek clients may be deployed on both Linux and Windows platforms. Each client will check out a license from your license server. The number of concurrent clients (users of SilverCreek) is determined by the number of client licenses included in your server license (e.g., five clients, ten clients, etc.).

Download SilverCreek for Linux (Fedora 7+, RHEL 6+, Unbuntu 18+, Debian 10+ and OpenSuSE 15+) :

  • Go to https://download.seguesoft.com
  • Enter your username and password
  • Download SilverCreek for Linux
  • Once the downloading has completed, extract the package from the downloaded file, as follows:
    % tar -xzvf tar file.gz
    For example:
    % tar -xzvf sc-m3-2013.111228-linux.tar.gz
Here, tarfile is the name of the file to be extracted.
After extracting the package, please DO NOT try to uncompress disk*.Z file further; follow instructions below:

Run the install.sh scripts

  • The installation script will start as setup wizard to guide you through the rest of the installation process.
  • You can start the installation by moving to the extracted directory (e.g., sc-m3-2011.111228) cd sc-m3-2011.111228
  • and then run the following command: ./install.sh
  • The installation script will start a setup wizard to guide you through the rest of the installation process.
By default, you will need a Graphical User Interface (GNOME, KDE, or any X server set up as the DISPLAY) to complete the installation.
If you are installing on a headless Linux system, run the command ./install.sh -t

Start SilverCreek Application

Move to the installed target directory (e.g.,/home/mary/silvercreekMx)

  • Initiate the application as shown below:
./bin/test-agent (to start test suites and tools)
./bin/browse-agent (to start tools only, not test suites)

Install the fortlm_license.lic file (used by your license server) on the SilverCreek client

  • Before installing the license file used by the server on the SilverCreek client, it is assumed that the SilverCreek Workgroup license server, whether on Linux or Windows, has already been installed and is running successfully.
  • When you start SilverCreek for the first time, you will see a message box with the hostID of the computer. Please ignore this message.
  • Install the license file used by your license server on the client system.
There are two ways to do this:
The simplest way is to use the “Import” button on the “License File Required” dialog when SilverCreek starts up.
Alternatively, you can take a copy of the fortlm_license.lic file and place it in the SilverCreek client home directory (e.g.,/home/mary/silvercreekMx).
Note, you must retain the file name as fortlm_license.lic and then restart SilverCreek.

Congratulations!

You should be up and running!
