Install SilverCreek for Windows (Dongle-Locked license)

SegueSoft Inc. (SSI) has acquired all rights to SilverCreek, Maxwell Pro TCP/IP Tests, and the IWL MQTT Tests from InterWorking Labs, Inc. (IWL).
This document references content originally developed by IWL, now authorized for SSI’s use under the acquisition agreement.

Download the latest SilverCreek on Windows 10 and newer:

  • Go to https://download.seguesoft.com
  • Enter your username and password
  • Download SilverCreek for Windows
Note: If clicking on the download link is blocked, you may need to right-click the link and select ‘Save Link As…‘.
Please ignore the file “can’t be downloaded securely” or “unknown publisher” warning and click ‘Keep‘ or ‘Run Anyway‘ to proceed
Save the downloaded package to permanent storage for future use.

Run the self-extractable installation binary

  • Double-click the self-executable installer to begin the installation process. If the installer is in a zipped format, extract it first.
  • A setup wizard will guide you through the rest of the installation process.

Start the application to get the HostID

To start SilverCreek:

  • To start SilverCreek:
    • Select “Start -> All Programs -> SilverCreek Mx -> Run SilverCreek Test Suites and Tools”
    • Select “Start -> All Programs -> SilverCreek Mx -> Run SilverCreek Tools Only” (to run Tools Only, no test suites)
  • Upon SilverCreek startup, you will be given a hostID in the “License File Required” window. Please ignore it.
In this case, the dongle is simply a USB NIC card. You will receive a USB NIC card along with a matching fortlm_license file from InterWorking Labs.
  • Install the Dongle
Insert the USB dongle into a USB port on your Windows system. If you also received a driver installation program for the NIC card, please set it up.
  • Check the USB card
Make sure the installed USB card is functioning properly. To do this, from a DOS window, run:
    ipconfig /all
to check if the USB NIC card has been properly assigned a MAC address.
NOTE: The USB NIC card dongle does NOT need to be actively connected to a network for SilverCreek to operate properly.
  • Typically, you would receive a USB NIC card from us along with a matching fortlm_license.lic file.
Note: If you purchased the USB NIC card yourself from a third party, please send an email to support@seguesoft.com  with your serial number, the MAC address of the USB NIC card, and the installed product (e.g., sc-m3-2013-x.x-windows.exe). You will receive a new FortLM license file via email. (Be sure to check your spam folder.)

Install the matching FortLM license file for the Dongle

  • Next, you will install the fortlm_license.lic file.
The simplest way is to use the “Import” button on the “License File Required” dialog when SilverCreek starts up.
Alternatively, you can take a copy of the fortlm_license.lic file and place it in the SilverCreek home directory.
This is usually “Program Files->InterWorking Labs, Inc->SilverCreek Mx”. NOTE: You must retain the file name as fortlm_license.lic.

Congratulations!

You should be up and running!
